Our Story

Bawden Street Brewing Co. started as a post‑deployment hobby in late 2015 when founder and head brewer Sean Heismann began home brewing. What began as a way to make beer more economically turned into a serious pursuit. By the time Sean and his partner moved into a small house in Ketchikan, Alaska, in late 2016, the collection of brewing equipment they had had grown to the point where his partner suggested that opening a brewery might be the next logical step. That suggestion led to the founding of Ketchikan’s first brewery in almost 20 years, with the previous one having closed in the early 2000s.
